Jeanne Lamar Upstairs Art Gallery Artist
I dream in color and I think in color. No black and white allowed! I am unabashedly in love with color and composition and spend time creating compositions that don't always follow the rules. I want you to take a second look and linger a bit longer inside the painting to enjoy the forms and the color relationships.

California was my birthplace, but Colorado was my home for my husband and myself for 28 years where I continued to paint and teach workshops. In 2000 we returned to our native California where I attended the Art Institute of Southern California and the Pasadena School of Fine Arts over 40 years ago.
I have developed personal techniques in several media, and have found that shifting from one medium to another keeps me on my toes and maintains an excitement for me. I presently work in watercolor, pastel and acrylic, sometimes combining them.
My watercolors have been shown in National Watercolor Exhibitions in California and Colorado, and my paintingshave hung in the Denver Art Museum and the Colorado History Museum. The Littleton, Colorado History Museum has purchased three of my paintings for their permanent collection.
In California, at the Aqua Area Watercolor Show, I was awarded the Grumbacher Gold Award in 2001. In 2002 my painting was chosen to be featured on the annual poster in addition to receiving an honorable mention award. In 2003 I received the Wale-Witten Memorial Award.
Current memberships include the California Watercolor Society, the Colorado Watercolor Society (Signature member), the American Watrcolor Society, the Watercolor Association of Sonoma County, and the Santa Rosa Art Guild. My work may be seen at the Upstairs Art Gallery at 306 Center Street in Healdsburg, California.
